Seeking: JOHNNY CASTLE: Male, Caucasian. mid to late 20s- late 30s; DANCER FROM THE WORLD OF CLASSICAL OR MODERN DANCE. 6 feet or taller, extremely handsome and masculine with an excellent physique. He has natural charisma, sex appeal, and a hint of danger. Working class. Experience in Latin and Ballroom dancing preferable, but not essential. DOES NOT SING. STARRING ROLE. PENNY JOHNSTON: Female, Caucasian, to play mid-20s. Spectacular dancer and good actor. Tall (5'7" or over) with a terrific figure and long legs, Penny is a dance instructor/ torch song singer who grew up with Johnny. Delicate but fierce; fragile and elegant of spirit. Experience in Latin and Ballroom dancing preferable, but not essential. Singing ability is also a plus. PRINCIPAL ROLE. BABY HOUSEMAN: Female, Caucasian, 20's (to play age 17). Seeking an excellent, classically trained actress with a background in dance (either recent or significant early training). Endearing, earnest, intelligent and perceptive. Compassionate in her absolute idealism. On the brink of womanhood, must grow from an idealistic child to a passionate young woman. Must be a strong dramatic actor with comic skills. | MOVE: the company will be auditioning for both male and female dancers and apprentices for the 07/08 season. We are seeking versatile dancers for both full-time positions and part-time specifically contracted projects. Dancers of all movement backgrounds are encouraged to attend, but the audition process will strongly focus on classical technique and contemporary movement influenced by hip hop, jazz and ballet. Callbacks will occur Tuesday, August 7th from 4pm-10pm also at the Dance Centre. These callbacks will focus mainly on company repertoire and pointe work will be required from all female dancers comfortable working en pointe*. All dancers are encouraged to prepare a short solo that will showcase their individual style and unique strengths. *Please Note - Not all female dancers in the company will be required to dance en pointe during the 07/08 season. |
